The EETimes’ R. Colin Johnson reports evidence of a Q-Bit breakthrough at IBM’s Experimental Quantum Computing group. Apparently, the issue has been the allegedly final challenge of millisecond coherence times has been overcome by researchers at IBM Research.
“Given where we are now with coherence times, our engineers are now turning to the remaining engineering challenges that still need to be addressed before commercialization,” said Steffen. “In particular, we need to be very careful about how we design the microwave interfacing to our quantum chips.”…” via EETimes’ reporter R.
