Notwithstanding the already superb coverage by Ericka Chickowski at DarkReading, the dearth of Oracle Database Security Updates is certainly grating me, similar to an itch I once could not scratch. The enormity of the microbial sized patches to the well-known database management system is quite unsurprising, given the company’s security management (and managers) history. Evidence not to the contrary, Oracle Corporation (NasdaqGS: ORCL) exemplifies Emerson’s apt barb - ‘A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines.’
